Miami is a great place to live – but don’t just take our word for it! This week, we’ll talk to some Miamians about their favorite things about the city!
Laurie is a realtor, originally from New York City, but now working in Downtown Miami. “Miami is great. The climate is just great. There is always a buzz about the place, always something going on, but it’s nowhere near as intense as New York City. People are laid back here, and in the stormy season, we’re on a real go slow. It’s sexy and atmospheric and the beaches are just great, especially at sunset. Though the sunrises are pretty cool too!”
Tom moved to Miami from the Pacific North West after successfully getting a transfer with the Professional Services firm that he works for. “Living in the tropics is just a dream. I worked very hard to get my office base switched so I could come here, and I’m so happy I succeeded. My passion is scuba diving and now I can get out on a dive boat every weekend if I want to. The waters are way warmer than when I was diving in the Pacific North West. There is some beautiful real estate in Miami, there are so many modern, stylish apartments around and not so expensive when compared with many other US cities in the North or in Southern California. The lifestyle is just too, so many excellent bars and restaurants. There’s something to suit all tastes.”
Nancy is from the UK and worked on cruise liners for many years before getting promoted into a full time position in their Miami office. “So many cruise operators have their North American base here in Miami, so there are great job opportunities for me as I work in the industry. I love the climate, and there are so many friendly people here from all over the world. I think that Miami attracts optimistic, happy people who aren’t afraid to follow a dream and I like hanging out with those sorts of people.”
